Stonington Borough
The
oldest borough in Connecticut, founded in 1801. This is where the wedding will be,
but the borough is worth visiting in its own right.
If you are into architecture, there are many historic and beautiful sea captain's houses.
You can park and walk around the little borough, taking in the houses, checking out the boats in the fishing fleet,
and go to the
Old Lighthouse Museum, originally built in 1823. For those of you who are hot on the trail of Sarah and Ed, you can eat at the (pricey) Noah's restaurant, one of our first dates. Note: Ed has never taken me back to Noah's…
Downtown Mystic

Not to be confused with Olde Mystic Village, this is the "real" downtown of Mystic - it includes the
Mystic River Bascule Bridge, one of few operational bascule bridges in the country.
For those of us who are unfamiliar with
bascule bridges, this is a fancy drawbridge.
Feel free to gawk either at the bridge itself or at the tourists gawking at the bridge.
Just remember that in the summer it conveniently opens roughly every ten minutes, trapping you on one side or the other.
Hahah. It's fun to laugh at stranded tourists. The downtown offers very scenic views down the river both ways,
the cool bridge, and many small and trendy shops of slightly higher caliber than those at Olde Mystic Village.
It also includes the original
Mystic Pizza restaurant, made famous
by the Julia Roberts
movie
of the same name, but actually we recommend eating pretty much anywhere but there, because their pizza stinks.
Now who ever said Connecticut was boring?!
Shopping at Olde Mystic Village

The Aquarium is actually located right next to the village. Lots of little shops for a fairly fun (and overly quaint) shopping experience.
